Over the past couple of weeks, the future of Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant has become one of the most talked-about situations in the NBA.
It is widely expected that Durant will be traded at some point during the upcoming offseason. He was one of the names mentioned most ahead of the 2024-25 NBA trade deadline as well.
Durant has been connected to quite a few teams already this offseason. Most notably, he's interested in being traded to the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs. Plenty of other teams have been linked as possible suitors as well.
One of those other teams is the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it has been reported that Durant does not have an interest in playing for the Timberwolves.

Now, a new team has come up as a potential destination.
According to a report from NBA reporter Evan Sidery of Forbes, the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in pulling off a trade for Durant. After moving on from Desmond Bane in a blockbuster trade with the Orlando Magic over the weekend, the Grizzlies are still open for business.
"BREAKING: The Grizzlies recently entered the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, per a source familiar with the situation," Sidery wrote on X. "After trading Desmond Bane, Memphis is revisiting their interest on Durant after a failed pursuit in February. Any team that trades for Durant owns his Bird Rights."
Memphis would be a very intriguing fit for Durant. He would be joining forces with dynamic point guard Ja Morant and star big man Jaren Jackson Jr. That big three could make some noise in the Western Conference.
Even at 36 years old, Durant is still one of the best scorers in the NBA. His ability to create shots and score at a highly efficient level would take a lot of pressure off of both Morant and Jackson.

During the 2024-25 NBA season with the Suns, Durant played in 62 games. He averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, while also shooting 52.7 percent from the floor and knocking down 43 percent of his three-point attempts.
It's clear that the Grizzlies want to win. They're tired of being stuck in mediocrity.
Acquiring Durant would not be a guarantee that Memphis would be an NBA Finals contender, but it would put the team in that conversation. This is something to keep a close eye on as the offseason picks up steam.
