NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame is adding two more names to its roster of legends.
On Tuesday, the team announced the induction of defensive backs Brett Maxie and Tracy Porter. Both players left lasting marks on the franchise, with Porter forever etched in Saints lore for his game-sealing interception against Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV.

Porter, a Louisiana native, reflected on the moment he got the call from then-head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis.
“I’m simply telling myself this can’t be happening right now,” Porter said. “I answered the phone and low and behold, Mickey Loomis is on the phone, Coach Payton is on the phone, and they asked me if I was ready to come to New Orleans and play some football. I’m pretty much saying, ‘Well yeah coach, it’s about time.’”
Maxie played for the Saints from 1985 to 1993, starting 106 games during his tenure. He led the team in interceptions in three different seasons and finished his Saints career with 15 picks.
Also honored at the event was Saints special teams legend Steve Gleason, who will be the first recipient of the Saints Hall of Fame’s new Courage Award. Gleason, already a Hall of Fame member, has become an inspiration through his battle with ALS and advocacy for people with disabilities.
The official Saints Hall of Fame ceremony will take place Dec. 13.
