Sources: Arsenal 'delighted' as record-breaking contract deal signed, now 'the really hard work starts'

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Arsenal sources are saying about Myles Lewis-Skelly’s prospective new contract.

The Arsenal academy graduate enjoyed a superb breakthrough campaign last term, making a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best youngsters.

TBR Football previously confirmed that Lewis-Skelly’s new deal was expected to be finalised ahead of the new season – indeed, before pre-season even begins.

And though Real Madrid were circling, they didn’t pose a threat to Arsenal, who have now sealed a record-breaking deal for Lewis-Skelly.

Andrea Berta now has three more renewals in his sights – and this is where the hard work really starts.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new Arsenal contract more lucrative than Cesc Fabregas’ 2006 deal

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has had confirmation from Arsenal that a deal for Myles Lewis-Skelly is close, indeed all but done.

This confirms what TBR Football revealed previously that they believed a deal would be done by the start of the season.

We can confirm that there were never any serious talks with other clubs despite the links to Real Madrid – MLS’ camp insists they talked with nobody other than Arsenal.

The slight delay was only because of his acceleration in his status to being an England international and the new terms had to be adjusted as such.

Indeed, Lewis-Skelly’s deal is bigger than the one Cesc Fabregas signed in 2006 when he was a teenager.

The latest around Ethan Nwaneri, William Saliba and Bukayo Saka contracts

MLS is the second of the big five new deals that Arsenal and Berta targeted for this summer – Gabriel done and MLS has followed – but the other three are somewhat further off.

“As we confirmed on TBR Football, Arsenal always anticipated that Lewis-Skelly’s deal would be in place,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“Sources close to the club have told TBR Football this is the biggest deal the club have ever handed to a teenager, surpassing the contract signed by Cesc Fabregas back in 2006.

“Of course Arsenal are delighted, but now the really hard work starts.

“TBR Football has already revealed issues with Ethan Nwaneri, whilst talks have not progressed with William Saliba and Bukayo Saka to any extent thus far this summer.”
