Having already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are continuing their push for attacking reinforcements to complement the Brazilian.
Now, United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed why he’s confident that Bryan Mbeumo will be the next man through the door at Old Trafford.
The Brentford forward is viewed internally as the perfect partner in one of the two No.10 roles alongside Cunha.
Talks are ongoing between United and Brentford, with an opening bid rejected but renewed optimism around reaching an agreement.
Tottenham had shown interest in the Cameroonian forward, however the Red Devils are believed to still be frontrunners.
Speaking on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, the former defender explained, “Because he wants to come.
“Mbeumo wants to come, I know it.”
“I’m happy with Cunha, he’s one of the ones I mentioned on my list,” Ferdinand added.
“If they get Mbeumo, I’d be very happy.
“His stats over the last three seasons in the Premier League are up there.
“Goals, assists, goal chances, ridiculous.”

Ferdinand praised United’s focus on proven Premier League players and made clear the only major adjustment for Mbeumo will be adapting to the weight of expectation.
“The badge is heavier at United,” he said.
“There’s pressure you don’t get at other clubs.
“They don’t have to do that when they go to Arsenal.
“The badge ain’t as heavy.”
Looking ahead, Ferdinand urged the club to also move for a striker – his top choice being Victor Osimhen.
“It looks like he’s turned down Al-Hilal… he must be waiting for Manchester United,” he joked, before admitting he’s unsure if the club will follow through.
