Aside from the ongoing NBA Finals, the Kevin Durant trade rumors are dominating headlines across the association. At this point, it feels like a foregone conclusion that the Phoenix Suns will trade the future first-ballot Hall of Famer, but who will win the Durant trade sweepstakes?
So far, there are three known suitors on Durant’s trade wish list. They include the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs, in no particular order. Though, Durant reportedly prefers a trade to the Spurs first.
However, other teams are still in pursuit of Durant, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, who would like to pair Anthony Edwards with his favorite player. However, the Timberwolves’ chase for Durant has featured a few hurdles.
According to [Hardwood Paroxysm](https://hardwoodparoxysm.substack.com/p/the-best-of-bad-options-for-the-suns?utm_campaign=email-post&r=3shtjf&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email), the Timberwolves tried swinging a three-team trade for Durant that would also included additional moving parts headed to the Brooklyn Nets. However, Durant reportedly vetoed the trade by making it known he’d rather not play for Minnesota.

Whether this ends the Timberwolves’ dream of pairing Edwards with Durant remains to be seen. Yet, if it does pull them out of the competition, it would seemingly make life a lot easier for the other teams trying to land the 15-time All-Star.
