West Ham have now been linked with Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.
The Villa academy graduate is only 24 years old but has played over 100 games in the Premier League.
On top of this, the midfielder also has experience in Europe, playing in both the Champions League and the Europa Conference League.
Therefore, West Ham’s links to Ramsey could be seen as a bit of a coup; however, the signing could end up being disastrous for Graham Potter.

The Birmingham outfit believes that this is a cut-price fee as their PSR concerns grow.
However, Potter cannot sanction the signing of the midfielder given his consistent injury woes which is a major concern.
Ramsey has had multiple long-term injuries in recent years, which have seen him miss some vital matches.

With West Ham also having PSR concerns, they cannot afford to take such an expensive risk on the 24-year-old.
Ramsey will likely end up becoming the new Gianluca Scamacca, who also struggled with injuries at the London Stadium and even missed the Conference League final.
For £40m, the Englishman is far too expensive given the risks posed by the potential deal.

Potter cannot afford to sign out-of-form players
Given Ramsey’s continuous time on the sidelines, the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to hit a good run of form, instead of just glimpses.
This is also a no-go for Potter as the manager needs to look at stars who had a brilliant 2024/25 season.
West Ham are currently in decline, and signing players who are on a similar trajectory will not help, as we’ve seen with the likes of Niklas Fullkrug so far.
Hopefully, Potter sees this and looks to bring in stars who can continue their fantastic form at the London Stadium next season.
