Newcastle United now linked with Manchester United outcast - He'd be willing to take pay cut to …

**Have a player you no longer want? Then Newcastle United are here for all of your interest-drumming needs.**

There is one position at Newcastle United that, as things stand at least, is well stocked and that's left wing.

Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes have both proven they have what it takes to be successful at the club, and while Gordon was off the boil last season, we back him to return for the next campaign with that fire in his belly.

That is, of course, as long as he can block out all the transfer talk about Liverpool again, which many fans believe was the cause of his drop-off last season.

Marcus Rashford rediscovered his form at Aston Villa last season

Marcus Rashford to Newcastle doesn't make sense to us right now

---------------------------------------------------------------

We don't believe Newcastle want to lose either Gordon or Barnes, so that makes this report from [Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/06/16/marcus-rashford-transfer-news/) highly questionable.

They are reporting that Newcastle are keen on Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford.

Rashford spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he seemed to gain a new lease of life, but the fact that Villa didn't immediately snap him up on a permanent deal is strange. Although Villa are thought to be flying close to the sun when it comes to PSR, so they could just be waiting until next month to strike.

Marcus Rashford would take a cut to his £325K-a-week wages to move

------------------------------------------------------------------

Caught Offside also say Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Rashford and that the player is willing to take a pay cut to move away from Old Trafford.

Rashford is currently on a whopping £325,000-a-week at Man United, so it would have to be a very hefty pay cut to move to Newcastle or Aston Villa. Spurs could probably offer a bit more, but it still wouldn't be anywhere near what he's on at Man United.

We can see Villa and Spurs battling it out for the England international, but at least as things stand, we don't see the need for signing another left winger, and certainly not one that's as big of a risk as current-state Marcus Rashford.
