Liverpool will do “everything they can” to agree a Saudi Pro League move for unwanted striker Darwin Nunez, sources close to the club have told Football Insider.
The Reds are trying to recoup a big portion of the initial £64million they paid for the forward in 2022, and Saudi offers will provide the best chance of doing so.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (16 June) that both Napoli and Atletico Madrid want to agree loan-to-buy deals for Nunez.
Both clubs could insert a buy option or obligation worth around £40million – but Liverpool feel there is more value in Saudi Arabia.
Liverpool want Nunez to make Saudi Pro League move
Nunez is not part of the plans at Anfield for the 2025-26 campaign after his lack of action under Arne Slot.
He scored just seven goals and notched seven assists in the 2024-25 season as Slot made a final decision on his Liverpool future.

The Reds desperately need funds after completing a mega-money swoop for Florian Wirtz and replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold with Jeremie Frimpong.
Slot’s transfer team are plotting further arrivals this summer and are likely to sign a like-for-like Nunez replacement.
The Uruguay international has scored just 40 Liverpool goals in 143 appearances for the club.

Major Ekitike to Liverpool update
However, Football Insider has revealed (17 June) that Liverpool will find a summer deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike difficult to do.
Frankfurt are ready to stand firm on their £85million valuation of the France Under-21 international – a price tag the Merseysiders are currently unable to meet.
The German side are in a strong position with Ekitike under contract until June 2029 and the club able to offer Champions League football next term.
