Newcastle United one of four Premier League clubs hoping to sign exciting 22-year-old Dutch…

A report from Germany has credited Newcastle United as one of four Premier League clubs chasing the signature of 22-year-old Dutch international Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

It is not the first time Newcastle have been reported as having an interest in the exciting winger, with reports linking Newcastle with an interest in the PSG winger last year before he extended his loan at RB Leipzig, before making that move permanent at the turn of this year.

In fact, Newcastle had shown interest in Xavi Simons when he was playing at PSV, but the Dutchman opted to re-sign for Paris Saint-Germain before heading on loan to Leipzig.

It has been a whirlwind few years for the young attacking midfielder, and it doesn't look like it's going to calm down any time soon.

Newacstle want Xavi Simons this summer according to reports in Germany

Newcastle want RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons after tracking him for years

A report from German outlet Sport Bild believes Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal are all keen on Simons.

It's being reported that Leipzig would want around £60 million for Xavi Simons, which certainly puts him in the affordable category for all four Premier League teams.

If there is truth to the rumour, then it could all, once again, come down to wages, which would put Newcastle at a notable disadvantage. Although Xavi Simons is less likely to demand wages outside of Newcastle's wage structure.

We've got our fingers crossed for some truth in this one

We're big admirers of Xavi Simons after having been linked with him in the past; we've kept an eye on his progress, and while he does currently tend to favour playing down the left, he is more than capable down the right flank too, as well as centre attacking midfield and even as a second striker.

We have our doubts about the legitimacy of the claims, with it coming from abroad, but we've got our fingers crossed that there's truth in this one and that we may finally get our man.

Of all the wingers we've been linked with lately, we'd put Xavi Simons quite high on the preferred options list given his young age and versatility.
