With the Kansas City Chiefs in the thick of mandatory minicamp, seemingly anything star quarterback Patrick Mahomes or tight end Travis Kelce do will be talked about on social media.
The Chiefs held their picture day on Wednesday, and while many players undergo a change in physical appearance during the offseason, Kelce and Mahomes’ were quite noticeable.
Kelce shed quite a few pounds after KC’s 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Though it was reported Kelce told those close to him he dropped 25 pounds this offseason, he seemingly denied explicitly giving that number while talking to reporters on Wednesday.
“First of all, I never said that,” Kelce quipped. “…Don’t believe everything you read on the internet … I am down some weight.”

Mahomes is also sporting a noticeable change in the way he looks, though his transformation has nothing to do with his weight.
The Chiefs posted Mahomes’ headshot from the 2024 season with the fresh one he took for 2025, and fans can see a significant difference in his hairstyle. Last year, his hair was longer and quite a bit shaggier, while this year, Mahomes is rocking a more clean-cut look.
The two-time MVP replied to the photos of himself with a no-word response on social media.
“ð,” Mahomes wrote on X.
Back in April, Mahomes admitted to reporters that his haircut was actually brought on by the Chiefs’ Super Bowl beatdown two months prior.
“I've wanted to do it for a while, but it was kind of one of those superstitions — I kept winning the Super Bowl, which is a good thing, but I don't want to cut the hair while I was doing it,” Mahomes said. “So, I told everybody during the season, win or lose, if we win three in a row, or if we lose, I'm getting a haircut. Like, that's enough.
“I'm very excited. I looked at some videos from last year and I can't believe all you guys let me keep that nappy hair for so long. I look way better now with the short hair, so I'll be keeping this going forward.”
