Utah Jazz have discussed trade for nine-time NBA All-Star

Is this the offseason where the Utah Jazz take the leap that rejuvenates their status as playoff contenders? Fans surely hope so. After all, the Jazz haven’t been playoff-bound since 2022, when Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell were still dominating the hardwood in the Beehive State.

The Jazz do have a lot of promising trade chips, combining their package of youthful talent plus future draft compensation. According to [Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/analysis-andy-larsen-on-jazzs-draft-dilemma-analytics/id390453558?i=1000713420567), the Jazz have already been in contact with the Philadelphia 76ers about trading for Paul George this offseason.

While the trade would include a lot of moving parts to ensure salaries match George’s $51.6 million cap hit for next season, one part that seems to be on the table is the 76ers actually moving back from the third overall pick to the fifth overall pick, which is currently held by the Jazz.

That’s a potential win-win scenario for Utah, adding a nine-time All-Star while still climbing up in the 2025 NBA Draft order to potentiall land someone like Ace Bailey.

Meanwhile, the 76ers would get the chance to clear George’s salary off their books while finding other pieces to build around Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jared McCain.
