Baker Mayfield Flexes Arm Strength
June 18th, 2025
There were a couple of high-profile “Hail Mary” completions in the NFL last season.
One came from the master of that pass himself, Aaron Rodgers, and the other was from rookie phenom Jayden Daniels.
The Rodgers throw just before halftime of a Jets-Bills game traveled 63 yards in the air. The Daniels’ play rocked the NFL world for days — 65 yards in the air and a game-winning touchdown to beat the Bears after a deflection.
So what kind of arm does Baker Mayfield have when it comes to these kinds of throws?
This came to Joe’s mind seeing the official Buccaneers video of Mayfield hanging out with kids at a youth camp.
(For those enticed by the Slide home insurance ad on that page, Joe will refer you to Moore Resources Insurance, a stellar local company owned and operated for decades by former Bucs tight end Dave Moore. Hey Bucs, it sure would be cool for the team to promote legit businesses owned by ex-players.)
In that video, Mayfield is egged on by kids to see how far he can throw a football. The Pro Bowl quarterback gives in and throws a 70-yard rope down the middle of the turf inside the Glazer Shed.
With the Browns, Mayfield uncorked a last-second touchdown bomb about 64 yards in the air. There’s also video of him throwing a 70-plus yarder outside the back of the end zone during his Cleveland days.
Joe’s mostly typing this up hoping the video gets to Todd Bowles’ desk. It could serve as a great reminder that every late-game Detroit second matters.
