Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been cited for an alleged speeding violation.
According to Ed Gallek, Peggy Gallek and Emily Smith of FOX 8 in Ohio, Strongsville police records show that Sanders was pulled over at 12:24 a.m. on Tuesday for allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour.
Sanders, who was clocked at exactly 101 miles per hour, which was 41 miles per hour over the speed limit, was issued a citation. Sanders can either fight the ticket in court, or pay the fine.
FOX 8 has reached out to the Browns for comment, but the team has not responded as of this writing.
Sanders, who is the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, rose to fame as the quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, where he posted impressive stats, including the highest completion rate for a quarterback in FBS history.
Sanders was widely projected to be a first-round pick in April's draft, but he unexpectedly slid all the way to the fifth round, where the Browns drafted him. It was easily the biggest story of draft weekend.
Sanders is now looking to earn a roster spot in Cleveland in a competition that also includes Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds earlier.
While Sanders is expected to secure a roster spot, Flacco appears to be the favorite to start in Week 1.
