Arsenal have secured the future of one of their brightest young stars, with Myles Lewis-Skelly agreeing a new long-term contract at the club despite recent interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who had not made a senior appearance for Arsenal as recently as a year ago, enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season in 2024/25. After making his debut in September, Lewis-Skelly went on to feature in 39 matches across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in the Gunners’ Premier League title push and Champions League campaign.
His performances, particularly in the Champions League quarter-finals, caught the attention of Real Madrid, who were reportedly keen on luring him to the Bernabéu. However, Lewis-Skelly has opted to remain in north London, with reports confirming that he has agreed to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium. An official announcement is expected imminently.

The teenager’s rise has not gone unnoticed on the international stage either. Lewis-Skelly broke into the England senior team earlier this year, becoming the youngest player to score on his debut for the Three Lions in March. He has since continued to feature in Gareth Southgate’s plans and is now expected to play a key role under incoming manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Lewis-Skelly’s new deal follows the recent contract renewal of Arsenal centre-back Gabriel, who signed a new four-year agreement with the club.

Arsenal are now working to secure the futures of other key players, including Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Leandro Trossard, and teenage prospect Ethan Nwaneri. However, negotiations with midfielder Thomas Partey have stalled, and the Ghanaian is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta is pushing ahead with plans to strengthen the squad this summer. The Gunners are prioritising the addition of a new striker, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško emerging as leading targets. Arsenal are also close to completing the signing of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi in a deal worth around £55 million.
