Dallas Goedert Shares Love For Eagles Fans and Their City

At one point during the 2025 offseason, it seemed that Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was going to be traded. The veteran tight end was owed over $10 million this season and was in the final year of his deal.

Many analysts and fans thought another team could come in and pay Goedert what he has been looking for while giving the Eagles some fair compensation.

That never ended up happening, though. Goedert was never moved. Instead, he signed a contract restructuring that lowered his cap hit while allowing him to hit the open market next offseason.

In an exclusive interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer's Olivia Reiner, Goedert explained that he returned to the team because of their passionate fanbase.

"Playing in Philadelphia, with how passionate the fan base is and how much they care and how much they can crucify you for losing a game, I never want to be a reason we lose a game," Goedert said. "So I always want to make sure I'm playing my best football then and can continue to bring joy to Philadelphia by being successful in the playoffs."

Goedert has dealt with injuries over the last few years, which is a big reason the team did not want to pay him the money he was set to earn this season.

When healthy, though, the South Dakota State product can be one of the best tight ends in football.

The fact that Eagle fans have left such an impact on his career that he was able to lower his payday for one more title push shows how beloved Goedert is in the city.

And how special the town can be when its teams play well.
