Benjamin Sesko's representative, Elvis Basanovic, has rubbished claims of pressuring RB Leipzig to slash their valuation for the hotshot forward.

Sesko has reportedly settled on personal terms with Arsenal, yet the North London club must still navigate a transfer fee.

Leipzig are open to offloading Sesko following their failure to secure a Champions League berth, but they're holding out for a substantial sum, believed to be in excess of £60million. Basanovic sought to "clarify" matters and stressed his commitment to honouring Leipzig's price tag.

"This is far from truth!" he exclaimed to Givemesport amid speculation of haggling over the price tag "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100 per cent convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it."

He continued: "Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig.

"I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually exit from the club shows your values. Values that you are bringing into a new club."

He went on to call for 'more respect' during transfers, adding: "I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect.

"So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated."

Sesko banged in 21 goals across all games for Leipzig last season, with a solid 13 in the Bundesliga, crowning him top scorer for his squad. However, their late-season nosedive meant waving goodbye to European dreams.

With just five matches left, Leipzig were clinging onto the fourth Champions League spot, but they didn't manage to bag a single win from those games, resulting in a total miss on Europe.

The summer of 2024 had Sesko rumoured to be gunning for an Arsenal move, but he ended up signing a new deal with his current club that's set until 2029 – though he might still make an early exit.

"We have a team with great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I'm really looking forward to taking the next steps with this team," Sesko said after sealing his contract extension.

"We've already achieved a lot in my first season and often shown the amount of quality and outstanding football we can bring to the pitch.

"But there's still a lot more to be done and that's now our common goal."
