Report: Newcastle'confident'over deal for'impossible to stop'Man Utd star, Ineos can't accept it

The saga of Marcus Rashford looks set to be one of the biggest stories around Manchester United this summer.

After a falling out with Ruben Amorim in December, the 27-year-old’s future at Manchester United has been all but over.

Despite scoring in Amorim’s first two Premier League games, a falling out saw Marcus Rashford issue a bombshell statement in which he said he wanted a new challenge.

This resulted in a loan to Aston Villa, which was neither good nor bad for Rashford; however did end in the Villains rejecting the chance to sign him permanently. Rashford then set his sights on his dream move to Barcelona this summer.

However, as is becoming common, Rashford found himself snubbed with Barcelona choosing to pursue Nico Williams instead, a deal which is far more in line with their club ethos.

This has left Rashford with few options on the table, and a United return may end up on the cards against all the odds. But there is one possible move beginning to emerge.

Newcastle plotting move to sign Marcus Rashford

Rashford had been placing all of his eggs into the figurative Barcelona basket this summer. There had even been a suggestion that Rashford would join United’s U21 side if he didn’t get the La Liga move.

Despite all his desperation, Barcelona ultimately just are not that interested, meaning Rashford will have to re-evaluate himself and decide what to do.

Now, it is reported by The Sun that Rashford still has Premier League interest, thanks to his “impossible to stop” qualities as Roy Keane raved via Goal.

The article claims that Newcastle are actually ready to offer Rashford an escape route from United this summer. The Magpies are ‘confident’ that St. James’ Park is the perfect stage for Rashford to reignite his career.

Eddie Howe is thought to be weighing up a move for Rashford, who has the 2026 World Cup in mind, with Newcastle thinking that United’s No.10 could complement Alexander Isak.

The stumbling block is that Newcastle wants to sign Rashford on a season-long loan, while Ineos wants a permanent sale after the loan to Villa saw the issue kicked six months down the road.

Manchester United must avoid loaning Rashford without obligation to buy

The situation around Rashford remains so uncertain, with really anything still on the cards to happen this summer, including that Barcelona move if everything falls into place.

There is a chance Rashford could buy out his United contract in order to effectively make himself a free transfer. Any option is better than what Newcastle are said to be offering, a season-long loan.

United have been stung too many times by loan deals and then getting stuck with the player, such as Sancho, so giving Newcastle a one-year trial of Rashford seems unwise when the team currently lacks such firepower.

If United have to loan Rashford, then it should involve an obligation to ensure they will make good on the deal, with no out options like Chelsea had this summer with Sancho.

United need to see Rashford gone, not with the potential return in 12 months, and so a straight loan must be rejected by Ineos.

If Newcastle look to sign Rashford, it will save him adding to his five goals against the club already.
