Kudus Cash Blow: Potter Denied Full Transfer Funds

I can’t have been the only one shocked by the revelation that only most of the [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) revenue from [Mohammed Kudus](https://www.claretandhugh.info/mohammed-kudus-bio/)’ impending sale will be given to manager Graham Potter.

Since the end of the season, most of us have been operating under the illusion that—while there wasn’t a ton of money to spend—whatever the club brought in from sales would be passed on to Potter to reinvest. Not ideal, but at least the manager and Kyle Macaulay would’ve known what they were working with.

This bombshell news suggests even less money will be allocated to the Hammers’ transfer budget than many of us first believed—which begs the question: how on earth is Potter supposed to overhaul a squad in desperate need of repair without the funds to do it?

It also raises the issue as to exactly how much of the sale will be banked before the transfer team are given their allocation.

How much do the club need to plug this hole and will it just be money from Kudus or every outgoing transfer? The news is an absolute kick in the wotsits at precisely the time when many thought it couldn’t get much worse.

If things carry on as they are West Ham are going to need miracle workers rather than a recruitment team in this window.
