Bayern Munich have faced disappointments so far in the summer transfer window.
The Bavarian giants were keen to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, but he is now heading to Liverpool instead.
The German champions earmarked Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, but it appears Barcelona are likely to win the race for the Spaniard’s signature.

Back in May, reports emerged that Bayern Munich are interested in Cody Gakpo, and it appears they have not taken their eyes off him completely.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are still showing interest in the Reds’ winger, who is seen as a potential alternative to Nico Williams.
Like other Dutch players at Liverpool, Gakpo has also benefited from playing under Arne Slot.
The 26-year-old has taken his game to a new level, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 49 games across all competitions last season, including a “sensational” performance against Leicester City.
He has scored 41 goals and provided 17 assists in 129 appearances since joining Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023.
Plettenberg claims that Gakpo is one of the players Bayern are ‘keeping contact’ with, and they must bid for him this summer.
Cody Gakpo would be perfect for Bayern Munich
Bayern need a new winger to replace Leroy Sane, and Gakpo, who is capable of playing as a left winger or as a striker, would be an ideal candidate.
With Barcelona making great progress in signing Williams, it is high time Bayern look for options elsewhere.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is an option for Bayern, but the Champions League winners are reluctant to sell him.
Likewise, AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has been considered, but the Serie A giants are demanding a massive transfer fee for him. Christian Falk also told CFBayern that Bayern have somewhat cooled their interest in the Portuguese winger.
It won’t be easy to lure Gakpo away from Anfield, and there has been no indication from the player that he wants to leave either.
However, the Reds could be willing to offload a few players to balance their books after smashing the transfer record to sign Wirtz. And they might be tempted to sell Gakpo if the right offer were to come along.
