Gyokeres in action for Sporting CP.
In-demand Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has been linked to Man Utd.
Manchester United's summer has got off to a promising start with the arrival of Matheus Cunha, while the club remain confident that Bryan Mbeumo will choose them, too.
However, two signings do not make a summer transfer window overhaul which Ruben Amorim and Ineos desire. More business is expected to be completed before the market closes for good in September.
With this in mind, The Manchester Evening News has taken a look at some of the latest headlines surrounding the Reds and how they stack up;
Gyokeres alternative update
Amid the current uncertainty surrounding the future of Viktor Gyokeres - plus United's ability to sign him - reports have been circulating regarding potential alternatives that the Reds could look to sign. One name to be linked with United is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is expected to leave Turin this summer.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, though, there is not currently interest from any Premier League club.
The Manchester Evening News says: Vlahovic fits the profile of striker that United want to add to their squad, but there is concern that he does not have the goal-scoring record of some of the players that are being linked. Ten goals in 29 Serie A appearances is fairly underwhelming and there is clearly a reason why Juventus want to replace Vlahovic with Gyokeres themselves. A better alternative for the Reds could be Victor Osimhen, who continues to await a move elsewhere with staying at Napoli not seen as a viable option.
Sancho exit pathway problem
According to Sky Italia, while Napoli are still keen to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, there is also a belief that the demanded £21.3million price tag is more than the Serie A champions are willing to pay. Furthermore, there are also concerns about the winger's wages that could currently be too high for their salary structure.
The Manchester Evening News says: This is a big issue for United this summer - particularly when a player has low stock like Sancho. Fewer and fewer teams are looking like they will be happy to pay the money which United demand for the forward. It could well be that United hit a problem where they have to subsidise some of his wages just so he leaves the club. If that happens, we're truly in nightmare territory at that stage.
