Leeds United have made concrete progress to sign Udinese’s Jaka Bijol and he isn’t the only Serie A player on their agenda for this summer.
The Whites have identified US Lecce’s Nikola Krstović as a target to strengthen their attack.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who state Leeds have made an approach to sign the 25-year-old.
The striker left DAC Dunajská Streda to join the Italian club in August 2023 and managed seven goals and two assists in his debut season, and 12 goals and five assists from 38 games last season.
Leeds have made an ‘important offer’ for the Montenegro international. The report makes no mention of figures but states the fee proposed by Daniel Farke’s side is close to Lecce’s asking price. Calcio Lecce state that asking price is €35m, including bonuses.
If Lecce were to sell the frontman to the English club, they plan to replace him with FC Basel’s Kevin Carlos. This indicates Lecce are prepared for a sale.
Leeds are waiting to see whether Krstović will decided to join them or choose to wait for a top Serie A club. Sky reports that for now, there’s been no concrete interest from Italy.
The English club need to convince Krstović to get this operation over the line.
