Manchester United’s options in the summer transfer window are slowly being whittled down.
As usual, Manchester United have been linked to almost every footballer across the globe during the summer transfer window.
So far, a £62.5m deal for Matheus Cunha is the only deal to be completed by the Red Devils but the Brazilian forward is just the start of what is expected to be a summer overhaul.
Ineos are working behind the scenes to add even more firepower to Ruben Amorim’s squad with a £45m bid submitted for Bryan Mbeumo and talks underway with Viktor Gyokeres.
But as each day passes, United’s options in the market grow fewer and it seems one winger target has decided to go against Cristiano Ronaldo’s advice.

New Francisco Trincao contract ends Man United hopes
While Amorim promised not to sign Sporting players in January, he is free to bring over some of his former stars to Manchester this summer, hence the interest in Gyokeres.
Reports also suggested that United showed interest in Francisco Trincao but it seems that any speculation is about to be cut short.
Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that Trincao is set to sign a new deal at Sporting that reflects his importance to the side.

Trincao was valued at £30m by Sporting but having lost a few key players already this summer it seems the 25-year-old has been convinced to stay put.
That is despite Cristiano Ronaldo advising Trincao to join United having already made the move from Sporting to Old Trafford earlier in his career.
What positions do Man United need to strengthen this summer?
The arrival of Cunha and the ongoing talks for Mbeumo will hopefully cover the lack of depth at the No.10 position.
Therefore, a deal for Trincao was never likely anyway assuming that Ineos secured their top two targets.
After that, a centre-forward is a top priority for United. Rasmus Hojlund was frustrating to watch in 2024/25 and Amorim knows he needs a clinical finisher to piece United’s attack together.
Gyokeres appears to be the first choice, but United are interested in Hugo Ekitike as an alternative option.

Beyond that, United’s transfer business will heavily rely on sales but a new central midfielder and right wing-back could be on the shopping list.
Rumours around a new goalkeeper arriving this summer will likely go quiet now that Andre Onana is set to stay at United.
