Everton could secure a surprise deal for Liverpool star Joe Gomez this summer.
The last time a player moved from the Reds to the Goodison Park outfit was in 1992, when Gary Ablett made the switch between the Merseyside rivals.
However, David Moyes is also seriously interested in Scottish winger Ben Doak, so the historic record could definitely be broken before the transfer window ends.

Everton could sign Liverpool star Gomez
Moyes wants to add real quality to his side this summer and the two-time Premier League winner would fit the bill.
A report from The Guardian (18 June) claims that the Toffees are one of several clubs interested in a £30million deal for the Reds star, with Liverpool open to a sale this summer.

It states that the Blues face competition from the likes of Leeds, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Newcastle for the 28-year-old centre-back.

Manchester United chief addition could be key to Gomez deal
If the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit are to beat their rivals to Gomez’s signature, they could call on Nick Cox’s experience after they poached him from Manchester United.
The former Red Devils academy director will become the technical director for the Friedkin Group in a move that has been touted as a major coup by industry sources.
That could lead to a higher calibre of player joining Everton as he wields his influence on the club, and Gomez would be a great addition, if his injury issues can be overcome.
The new ownership has made several exciting appointments in recent months, luring Angus Kinnear from Leeds to lead the new sporting structure, and James Smith, who was director of scouting and recruitment at Manchester City has also joined in a senior role.
The Americans have overhauled the backroom structure on Merseyside and have given Moyes and Co. the best possible chance to taste success in the near future, something which the Blues have lacked sorely in the last 30 years.
Once they have finished sorting out the behind-the-scenes details, focus can shift to transfers and securing the right players for Moyes to achieve his lofty ambitions of qualifying for European football next season.
