'He wants to': Journalist shares how Alexander Isak really feels about his future as Liverpool interest heats up

Liverpool have already found themselves rather busy in the summer transfer window with a fair few changes expected to be made at Anfield.

Jeremie Frimpong was the first to be brought in by Arne Slot, and then, over the next couple of days, Florian Wirtz is expected to jet in to complete his move from Bayer Leverkusen.

Indeed, the window is still young and due to this heavy spending at the start, the books will need to be balanced one way or another.

And, when the Anfield outfit manage to do this, there have been rumours of the Reds finalising a deal for Alexander Isak and getting a deal for their dream striker target over the line.

Newcastle just about managed to sneak their way into the Champions League spots again this season, but if they hadn’t, it feels like Isak would almost certainly be on the move.

However, since they did qualify, there hasn’t been as much speculation around his future as many would have expected.

And, while speaking on the Libero Podcast, journalist Miguel Delaney gave his thoughts on the Sweden international’s future at Newcastle.

“He’s enjoying his time at Newcastle, but he’s getting to that point in his career where he doesn’t want to be part of something that’s growing,” he said.

“He wants to win the biggest trophies now and be in the Champions League absolutely every season.

“But, he’s not the sort of player to agitate and look for a move.”

Liverpool must throw everything they can at signing Alexander Isak

One of the main areas that Liverpool need to reinforce this summer is their striker.

Indeed, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have both filled in at number nine for most of the season, but in reality, they’d no doubt prefer to be played in their natural positions of left wing.

Numerous strikers have been linked with an Anfield switch since the transfer window opened, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike the most heavily rumoured.

However, one name that has consistently popped up throughout the year is Isak’s.

The towering Swede has been a revelation for Newcastle since his arrival from Real Sociedad, with all the biggest names in Europe vying for his transfer.

And, with Wirtz set to be announced any time soon and Mohamed Salah likely leading the way for Liverpool once again next term, it’s hard to see a more inviting prospect for a striker.

Indeed, only time will tell what the future holds, but for now, Slot should keep his eyes on Isak, and if Liverpool can afford him, they must do everything they can to add him to their ranks.
