Atlético Madrid are looking to sign a new left-back and Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson is on their list.
Thursday’s edition of AS reports the 31-year-old likes the idea of joining the La Liga club
They state Los Rojiblancos want the Liverpool player and he’s open to moving to Madrid this summer.
Robertson has been the first choice for the Reds since joining them from Hull City in 2017. He may no longer maintain the same role at Anfield as Liverpool are working on signing AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
The Scotland international’s goal is continue playing at the highest level and to compete for trophies. He believes the Spanish club is an excellent option and their directors are aware of his desire to join them.
Robertson’s contract lasts until 2026, and the newspaper states Diego Simeone’s side have to find an agreement with the Premier League winners to secure his services.
Online, AS add the fullback knows he has to leave Liverpool, and his desire is to play in a major league at the highest level. The Liverpool player has given the go-ahead to the possibility of joining the Spanish club.
The report states Atlético are in the Champions League and are ‘offering him everything he wants’.
Atlético, who have no plans to spend big on a left-back, need to agree with Liverpool. AS indicate the ‘price shouldn’t be an impediment to a possible transfer’ due to Robertson’s contractual situation.
