Man United are planning to entertain offers for Andre Onana and will use the money to sign his replacement, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that Ruben Amorim is keen to upgrade on the 29-year-old this summer.
This comes after Onana confessed [via the Mail]: “Will I leave? I don’t know. We’ll see,” amid renewed interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
Brown told Football Insider in April that Man United want £50million for Onana, but will accept bids to make back a large percentage of their £47.5million outlay.
The Cameroon international made 50 appearances across all competitions last season, but multiple costly errors have forced the club to consider their options.
Football Insider revealed on 25 May that United are well-placed to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa if they can shift Onana, with the Argentine top of their list.

Man United eye Emi Martinez after Andre Onana sale
Brown told Football Insider on 16 June that United will step up their interest in Martinez after Onana’s confession, with his agent playing a big role in the move.
The former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Villa, Tottenham and West Ham, insisted that their transfer activity will depend on whether clubs come in with offers for the goalkeeper.
“United would like to move him on if they can,” he told Football Insider.
“There’s been a lot of talk about it, and that always comes from somewhere, whether it’s his agent or the club making it known publicly.
“If they get the opportunity to sell him for a good price, I think they will.
“Before any decision is made, they need to know who they want to replace him.
“So they’ve been working to identify the right player and find out who is available.
“But none of that matters until they get an offer for Onana, it’s a domino effect.
“If a club comes in for Onana, they’re planning to take the money and then they’ll use that money to go and sign his replacement.
“If no bid comes in, he will remain their goalkeeper next season because they won’t sign another.”

Mason Mount exit update emerges at Old Trafford
Onana is not the only player being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as there has been speculation surrounding Mason Mount’s future.
Brown told Football Insider on 17 June that Man United will accept offers for Mount after Amorim decided he is not of the required standard.
Following the arrival of Matheus Cunha and the club’s efforts to sign Bryan Mbeumo, there is now a belief Mount could be moved on to free up space.
Brown told Football Insider on 9 June that Man United are closing in on signing Mbeumo as they edge closer to an agreement over a fee with Brentford.
