Liverpool now doing “everything they can” to get rid of player who Klopp loved – report

**Liverpool are doing “everything they can” to ensure that one player is sold in the summer transfer window, according to a new update.**

The Reds have already waved goodbye to Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, but he is unlikely to be the only player heading out of the exit door.

Andy Robertson is being strongly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while the likes Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have all been backed to move on.

According to a new claim from [_Football Insider_](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-liverpool-will-do-everything-they-can-do-complete-darwin-nunez-deal/), Liverpool are doing “everything they can” to sell Nunez to a Saudi Pro League club in the coming weeks and months.

The Premier League champions are “trying to recoup a big portion of the initial £64million they paid for the forward in 2022, and Saudi offers will provide the best chance of doing so.”

The report adds that Nunez is “not part of the plans at Anfield” in 2025/26, with Arne Slot deciding that an upgrade is required in the coming weeks and months.

**The ideal time for Liverpool to sell Nunez**

----------------------------------------------

For all his popularity as a big character at Liverpool, the brutal reality is that Nunez has been disappointing since arriving from Benfica in 2022, despite [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68507787) showing plenty of love for him, saying:

_“He had absolutely more than an OK first season but he had to adapt, that’s done, and he is settled in the middle of the team,” added the German boss. He loves to play for this team together with these boys and has quality coming out of his ears, to be honest. Is he at his absolute peak in general? Not now for us. But can he develop? Yes. Is he a threat all the time? Yes.”_

Nunez’s finishing and general football intelligence haven’t improved nearly enough in the past three years, with wasteful misses and poor decision-making working against him.

While Liverpool won’t recoup all of the money paid for him, he is still only 25 and could still leave for a healthy amount, and a move to Saudi Arabia would be ideal for the Reds, financially speaking.
