Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool agree £200,000-a-week+ deal to sign 'sensational' star

Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz is set to pen a contract worth in the region of £200,000 per week with Liverpool, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The 'elite' Germany international is reportedly set to become one of the best-paid players at Anfield once his £116m move becomes official, with his medical scheduled for Friday.

While there have been reports of a potentially even higher salary, Romano claims such suggestions are wide of the mark, as Liverpool aim to sign Wirtz to a contract that fits within their current wage structure.

The 'sensational' 22-year-old attacking midfielder is now close to becoming the Reds’ second summer arrival, following Jeremie Frimpong’s signing on a five-year deal earlier this month.

Romano, writing on X, has revealed that Wirtz’s salary at Liverpool will be in the region of £200,000 per week, including bonuses:

Liverpool are set to continue their summer spending following the deal for Wirtz, with talks for Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez also at an advanced stage.

The Hungary international is expected to seal a move to Anfield for around £40m, with personal terms already agreed.

Liverpool are also expected to bring in a new striker to replace Darwin Nunez, who is wanted by several clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia, including Serie A winners Napoli.

The Uruguayan’s departure would make way for a new number nine at Anfield, with Eintracht Frankfurt sensation Hugo Ekitike remaining one to watch following his breakout season.
