Newcastle United may be forced to make a major call on Kieran Trippier’s future this summer, with Chronicle Live’s Lee Ryder reporting that the club could entertain offers amid interest from AC Milan and the Saudi Pro League.
Trippier, who turns 35 in September, is under contract until summer 2026.
According to Chronicle Live, the full-back “is on a list of full-backs put to AC Milan ahead of the transfer window”, with interest also lingering from Saudi clubs and previous suitors Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Although Eddie Howe has strongly defended the defender’s value in the past, Newcastle’s financial posture under PSR rules could necessitate moves, even if not under the heavy pressure of last year’s deadline. On top of that, it’s worth noting that Trippier earns approximately £5 million per year in wages.
Despite making only 14 Premier League starts last season, Trippier remained influential, contributing to Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win and top-five finish.
“He is unique, there is no-one can do what he can do,” Howe said last season. “Set-play delivery, passing ability and his overall leadership is unique.”
Trippier’s experience remains valued internally, but Newcastle’s right-back options have grown. Tino Livramento is now considered the first-choice right-back when fit, and Lewis Hall is expected to return from injury for the new season.
Chronicle Live adds that “any bid for Trippier could be looked at” given the depth and financial context.
Trippier is expected to report for pre-season in early July, but the incoming sporting director, set to replace Paul Mitchell, could influence the final decision on his future at the club.
