Barcelona stance on Luis Diaz transfer as Liverpool star considers 'offers'

The future of Luis Diaz at Liverpool continues to spark rumors as the summer transfer window unfolds.

The 28-year-old Colombian has been the subject of intense speculation over a potential departure from Anfield, with the chatter intensifying this month. Liverpool is reshaping its squad this summer after winning the Premier League title last time out, with Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez close to joining. Jeremie Frimpong has already made the switch to Merseyside, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has joined Real Madrid.

Barcelona has emerged as a possible new home for Diaz should he opt to leave Merseyside, while there's also talk of interest from Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Diaz had his most prolific season in front of goal last year, netting 17 times across all competitions and playing a pivotal role in Liverpool clinching the Premier League crown. As the team gears up to defend its title, questions linger over whether Diaz will feature on the roster come its season opener against Bournemouth on August 15.

Here, we bring you the latest developments and gossip regarding Diaz's situation at Liverpool.

Barcelona's position

Spanish media have shed light on Barcelona's current thoughts about potentially signing Diaz. According to Marca, the Catalan team is unsure if Diaz is keen on a switch to Camp Nou this summer. It's reported that the Liverpool ace is considering 'other offers,' casting doubt over Barcelona's plans.

With Barca apparently eyeing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, securing his signature could put an end to the Diaz-to-Barcelona narrative for the upcoming season.

Transfer saga continues

Earlier this month, Diaz revealed that he has been in "talks" with other clubs because of the uncertainty surrounding his tenure at Liverpool.

The Colombian star did, however, express contentment with life in Liverpool despite the swirling transfer rumors indicating a potential exit.

"I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so. They've welcomed me very well from day one," Diaz told reporters on June 5 while on international duty with Colombia.

"We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening. We're trying to arrange what's best for us,

"We're talking to clubs, it's normal in the market, and we're looking at what's best for us. I'm waiting to see what happens. If they (Liverpool) give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I'll be happy. Now it's up to them."

Liverpool latest

The Liverpool ECHO earlier reported this month that the club firmly rebuffed an official bid from Barcelona for Diaz. Barcelona had clarified its interest in Diaz, but the Spanish team was met with a steadfast refusal by the Reds.

Despite speculations about his future and ongoing contract discussions, Liverpool is not inclined to let Diaz go this summer. Diaz's current contract with Liverpool is valid until 2027, and talk of an extension has yet to advance.
