The Dallas Cowboys have cut former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Luq Barcoo, the team announced on Wednesday. They signed veteran Robert Rochell, and Barcoo was on the chopping block after that move.
Barcoo signed with the Cowboys in January and was with the team from then through mandatory minicamp. Their mandatory minicamp has concluded, and Barcoo will now hope to latch on elsewhere.
The Steelers released Barcoo in June of 2024 after he suffered an injury around this time of year. Dallas was the first team he had joined since his release from Pittsburgh.
Barcoo spent over a year in Pittsburgh after signing with the Steelers in May of 2023. He spent all of 2023 on the team’s practice squad and was re-signed for the offseason, but an injury in offseason training activities derailed Barcoo’s ability to push for a roster spot.
An undrafted free agent out of San Diego State in 2020, Barcoo has spent time across multiple teams, including the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs. He earned his way back into the NFL by playing for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL.
