'We will discuss it': Pereira gets boost as £8.5m Wolves target's father now hints at potential …

Wolves are looking to bolster their pool of attacking options – and the father of one target appears to be nudging his son towards the exit.

Wolves have lost Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia already this summer.

But there could also be further outgoings in the form of Goncalo Guedes and Hwang Hee-chan, who failed to rule out an exit recently.

Wolves will soon announce Fer Lopez as a new signing.

The Spaniard did his medical on Wednesday, and it is only a matter of time now until he is unveiled.

But he is a number 10, and Wolves need to sign a new striker to compete with and provide cover for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

One player on Wolves’ radar is Willem Geubbels – and Vitor Pereira may have received some fresh encouragement.

Geubbels has been playing in Switzerland for the past couple of years.

He joined St. Gallen in 2023 from AS Monaco – and it has been a pretty fruitful spell for him there so far.

He has scored 27 goals in 92 appearances, and supplied eight assists.

Interest in him is mounting, and Wolves are reportedly in the picture to make a move.

And Pereira may have received some welcome news, with L’Equipe relaying some comments from the player’s father, who also serves as Geubbels’ agent.

He is quoted as saying: “We had a project with St. Gallen and after two and a half years, I think the contract is fulfilled.

“Should he leave this summer or next year? We will discuss it respectfully and in the best interests of all parties involved if a change should occur.”

This is at odds with what St. Gallen’s sporting director said: “The club is counting on Willem in the future, an important player who still has two years left on his contract.”

An invitation for Wolves to bid for Geubbels?

It sounds like the sporting director of St. Gallen has a fight on his hands to keep Geubbels beyond the summer.

It will be intriguing to see if Pereira orders a swoop.

In recent days it’s been suggested Wolves have balked at Evann Guessand’s asking price, after making an offer. So it may well be that Geubbels is seen as an alternative.

Geubbels is apparently valued at around £8.5 million, making him significantly cheaper than the Ivorian.

We all know that Wolves love to pick up young players for fairly low fees in the hope of turning them into top players with a really high market value. So Geubbels’ situation is now worth keeping an eye on.
