Newcastle have unearthed an 11-goal academy gem, he’d actually benefit from Isak joining…

Newcastle United are ready to fight to keep Alexander Isak at the club this summer after reports stated Arne Slot’s Liverpool are ready to make a major offer.

The Magpies’ stance on letting the Swede go is clear: he is not for sale to anyone, and if he were to leave, it would need to be for a price nearing the world record transfer fee, let alone the British record.

After another magnificent season on Tyneside, Alexander Isak has interest from Liverpool, who are looking to improve their attacking options after their Premier League title-winning season.

Newcastle United need to improve several positions this summer, so his sale would help them in the transfer market, but would also mean that one of their close rivals has an even stronger side next season.

It has been reported that Liverpool are tabling a bid worth £120m for Isak, similar to the deal they struck with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz earlier in June.

While Newcastle are desperate to keep Isak this summer, his exit would silently benefit an academy player who is already in Eddie Howe’s thinking for next season.

Alexander Isak joining Liverpool would benefit Newcastle United prospect Sean Neave

After a brilliant 2024/25 campaign, Sean Neave has earned a new contract at Newcastle and is now in contention for a place in the first team on a regular basis next season.

Aged just 18, Neave impressed for Newcastle’s Under-18s, earning himself a call-up to the senior squad during the latter stages of the season, though he did not make his professional debut for the Magpies.

After his new deal was announced, it was revealed that Neave will get first-team opportunities at Newcastle in pre-season, giving him a chance to show Howe that he is good enough to play more often next season.

As it stands, Neave is behind three other strikers in the pecking order at Newcastle, with William Osula, Callum Wilson and Isak ahead of him. However, Wilson could leave Newcastle this summer with his contract expiring, and Osula is still not trusted by Howe, despite his positive performances throughout the season.

If Isak and Wilson leave, Neave could become the second choice at Newcastle for the 2025/26 campaign. It is worth taking into consideration that Newcastle are in talks for Joao Pedro, who will likely become the Magpies’ first-choice striker if Isak leaves for Liverpool.

Sean Neave can be Newcastle United’s best striker in the future

Despite the links to Liverpool, Newcastle want to give Isak a new contract to deter interest, maintain his value and keep him at the club past his current 2028 expiry.

There is no doubt that Neave will benefit from his work alongside Isak in first-team training, leaving fans eager to see what he can achieve when Howe finally gives him an opportunity in the Premier League.

Having scored 11 goals in the academy last season, Neave has shown that he is ready to take the step up, even though he will be the youngest player in the first-team squad.

Additionally, Neave appears to have the support of the Newcastle fans, who were delighted to hear he had signed his contract extension alongside fellow academy stars Leo Shahar and Trevan Sanusi.

Fans should be keeping a watchful eye on Neave in pre-season when he finally gets his chance to prove why he was named in Newcastle’s matchday squads throughout the campaign.
