LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Former Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick Damon Arnette has reportedly signed with the Houston Texans as he works toward an NFL comeback.
Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday that the 28-year-old cornerback would join the Texans after playing for the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL, a spring football league, this past season.
Drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Arnette appeared in 13 games for the Raiders before a video appearing to show him flashing a gun and threatening someone surfaced in 2021.
Then-general manager Mike Mayock told reporters the team would not tolerate the threatening behavior and Arnette was released from his contract.
Later that season, he signed onto the Miami Dolphins' practice squad but did not appear in any games.
Arnette signed a reserve/futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in January 2022. He was arrested days later for allegedly showing a gun to a valet attendant at a Las Vegas Strip resort during a dispute, and Kansas City promptly released him.
He agreed to a plea deal in the case and was sentenced to community service.
