Benjamin Sesko’s agent has broken his silence on speculation linking the striker with Arsenal, insisting they will not pressure Leipzig or engage in transfer games.
Benjamin Sesko‘s agent has moved to temper mounting speculation over the RB Leipzig striker’s future, amid increasing reports that Arsenal are weighing up a summer move for the 22-year-old Slovenia international.
With the north London club assessing options to strengthen their forward line, Sesko and Sporting CP‘s Viktor Gyokeres have emerged as key targets. But according to Elvis Basanovic, Sesko’s representative, comparisons between the two are misguided.
“Sesko is not competing with anyone,” Basanovic told Fabrizio Romano, adding, “we have a clear plan for the future and the speculation in the media does not affect us at all. Sesko is not just a striker, he is a special striker.”

Arsenal have yet to make any formal approach, though club officials have scouted the former Red Bull Salzburg forward extensively across the past year. Their interest follows a 2023–24 Bundesliga season in which Sesko scored 13 goals and contributed five assists in 33 appearances, despite only becoming a regular starter midway through the campaign. He followed that up with 21 goals and six assists in 45 games last season.
Basanovic stressed that Sesko‘s development remains the primary focus and any decision on a move would be shaped by more than just financial considerations.
“Sesko will only leave Leipzig when we find a special club, with a special project and a special coach,” he said. “We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100 percent sure that RB Leipzig will respect our decision when it is time for the next step.”
With Leipzig reluctant to lose one of their most promising young talents, Basanovic was also keen to emphasise that his camp would not force the issue, amid reports of trouble between Gyokeres, his agent and Sporting.
“We will never blackmail Leipzig, because I think more respect is needed in the football world,” he said.
Sesko, under contract until 2029, has previously attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan, but it is Arsenal who have taken the most concrete steps in over the last year.
