Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United has predictably come under question again during this summer’s transfer window amid links with a money-spinning move to Liverpool.
Indeed, Isak remains under contract at Newcastle United for another three years but that has done little to stop the speculation.
On Wednesday, reports from GIVEMESPORT emerged suggesting Liverpool are prepared to break the British transfer record to sign Isak.
Newcastle do not need to sell Isak this summer but the rumour mill keeps churning, with constant murmurings about his future a theme of the last few months on Tyneside.
There’s little to suggest Newcastle will cash in. Still, a recent report from The Northern Echo has shared some more insight.

Newcastle United know Alexander Isak could increase his salary at Liverpool
They claim that decision-makers on Tyneside accept the “thorny issue” of the fact that Isak could significantly increase his salary elsewhere.
Isak’s Newcastle salary is said to be around £120k-per-week. While Newcastle will hold contract talks with Isak this summer, there’s only so much they can do if they are to abide by their existing wage structure.
Newcastle are prepared to pay Isak around £200k-per-week which, while sizeable, does not seem comparable to what other top players in the Premier League are paid.

It should also be noted that, pleasingly for Newcastle fans, there is no suggestion the club’s stance has changed. They have no plans to sell Isak, even though there is an acceptance about the situation with his wages.
What Alexander Isak has said about his Newcastle United future
The 25-year-old has shown little outward desire to leave Newcastle any time soon.
In March, Isak confirmed he was happy at Newcastle, having just won the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
“There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times,” he told Fotbollskanalen.
“It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future. I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies.”
Isak’s Newcastle contract runs until the summer of 2028. Right now, there’s little pressure to sell him.
Everything arguably points towards the fact that Newcastle are in a position to keep the player this summer, while Isak himself isn’t pushing for a move.
This is a moving beast of course and it’s difficult to predict the future. Still, currently, there doesn’t appear to be much need to panic.
