Leeds United were said to have tabled a huge bid to sign Lecce forward Nikola Krstovic.

Following the arrival of Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, Daniel Farke will be hoping that the Whites can accelerate their attempts to bring more new faces to Elland Road.

A whole host of players have been linked with a move to Leeds United ahead of their return to the Premier League, with the addition of a new striker clearly high up on their list of transfer priorities.

One of those to have been linked was Lecce’s Krstovic, with a fresh transfer twist emerging after reports from Italy.

Krstovic developments wide of the mark at Leeds

Joel Piroe had an excellent season in the Championship, but whether he is able to make the next step up remains to be seen, hence why the Whites will be in the market for at least one new striker.

It was reported in Italy that Leeds had tabled a “significant” offer to secure the services of Krstovic, though a report from Yorkshire Evening Post (19 June) claims that is not the case.

Competition Appearances Goals Assists Yellow Cards Red Cards Penalties Minutes Played

Total 24/25 38 12 5 6 – – 3,160′

Serie A 37 11 5 6 – – 3,070′

Instead, it is believed that Leeds are yet to enter talks for the forward, who has interest from other clubs, including Serie A giants Roma.

The Montenegrin international is valued at £25million, with an expectation set that he will leave Lecce this summer.

Daniel Farke

Leeds cannot afford to enter season without new number nine

If there are two positions which absolutely need to be addressed before the season gets underway, it is the goalkeeper department and the striking department.

Simply put, the Whites cannot afford to start the new campaign with the players they have in those areas; otherwise, they will be at an immediate disadvantage.

Farke will be looking to bolster his squad wherever possible in the coming weeks, though someone to score the goals will almost certainly be his number one priority.

If it is not to be Krstovic, Leeds cannot waste any time in submitting a bid for a new striker soon.
