Trent Alexander-Arnold has again discussed his decision to sign for Real Madrid, claiming he knew “in his heart” it was the right move to make.
The defender played his first game for Los Blancos on Wednesday following his $11.5million move from Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold, who was unveiled as the latest Galactico last week, played 65 minutes in the searing Miami heat as Real drew 1-1 with Al-Hilal at the Club World Cup.
It was a mixed display from the Englishman, who was caught out of position on a few occasions but was tidy in possession. He also played a significant role in Gonzalo Garcia’s opening goal of the game.
Alexander-Arnold was asked post-match about his decision to join Real, a topic he has discussed at length since his move to the Spanish capital was confirmed
“It’s my first time changing clubs, so I didn’t know what to expect,” he told Marca. “I had no expectations.
“It’s a big change and it’s different, but I’m enjoying every minute, and in my mind and in my heart, I know I’ve made the right decision for me.”

Those comments are unlikely to go down well with Liverpool supporters, as the club’s fanbase continues to grieve the departure of a boyhood Red who came through the academy and professed desires to one day captain the team.
“It's a dream come true,” Alexander-Arnold said last week as he was unveiled as a Real player. “I'm happy and proud to be here. I'm excited to show my game to the Madrid fans.
"I'm aware of what it means to play for Real Madrid, it's a big responsibility, but I'm ready. I want to win a lot of trophies and be a champion, and keep growing.”

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old revealed his disappointment that his debut didn’t result in a victory, while admitting he struggled to cope with the 90°F (32°C) temperature.
“It was a very proud moment for me. I’m very happy to have made my debut. It’s something most, if not all, players dream of all their lives,” he said.
“I’m incredibly proud of the achievement, but of course there’s some disappointment [with the result] with the mentality that comes with being a Real Madrid player.
“You want and expect to win every game, but of course, with a new coach, new players, and new ideas, there are positives to take away, especially in the second half, and the foundations have been laid to go and win the next game.”
