Reports throughout the offseason have indicated that the Miami Dolphins are looking into trade options for perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey. And according to Rams head coach Sean McVay, a potential reunion between the Rams and Ramsey is not out of the question.
Some of the best years of Ramsey’s career, of course, came in Los Angeles, making three Pro Bowl appearances and playing a huge part in the organization’s Super Bowl championship in 2022.
The Rams saw their postseason run end last season at the hands of the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. Had they defeated the Eagles, who knows how far they could have gone.
If the Rams had Ramsey throughout their postseason stretch last season, it could very well have been enough to put the Rams over the top in a close NFC Wild Card matchup against the Eagles. And Sean McVay, on his own accord, may very well have an interest in bringing in Ramsey in 2025.
“Usually, those are scenarios and situations that you have to have plans in place prior to executing some of the decisions that have occurred,” McVay said on Day 1 of the team’s minicamp earlier this week, via the Rams team website. “Definitely don’t want to rule anything out because we’re always open-minded to onboarding and acquiring quality players and people like him if we’re able to do that, but there would be some obstacles that are real that are in the place of maybe preventing that from occurring.”
Obviously, the obstacle that McVay is referring to is the compensation that the Dolphins would want back in return, in addition to making the salary fit in regards to a potential trade.
But clearly, the possibility is at least on the table, which should be intriguing to Rams fans as the look to get over the hump in 2025.
