Can Liverpool realistically sign Alexander Isak this summer?

Liverpool are not short of ambition this transfer window. With the ink still drying on a £116 million deal for German star Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong already through the door, the Reds are flexing their financial muscles. But could they really go one step further and land Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak?

It’s a question that has set tongues wagging at Anfield and beyond. Isak, fresh from scoring 23 Premier League goals last season, would add serious firepower to Liverpool’s frontline.

Only Mohamed Salah scored more for the Reds, and with Darwin Nunez still flattering to deceive and reportedly on the verge of leaving, a cool-headed finisher like Isak could be just what the doctor ordered.

But here’s the rub: Newcastle don’t seem in a rush to sell.

How much Liverpool might need to pay for Alexander Isak?

Eddie Howe’s side are building something special up north. After all, they’ve booked a seat back at Europe’s top table and are no longer scrambling to meet the Premier League’s financial rules like last year.

Back then, even Anthony Gordon was nearly shipped out. This summer? It’s a different ball game.

Reports (via Liverpool Echo) suggest Newcastle are “relaxed” about Isak’s future. In fact, he’s expected to sit down for new contract talks at the end of August.

If anything, that could send his price tag soaring. And unless Isak himself decides to stir the pot and push for a move — something he hasn’t hinted at — Liverpool may be looking at a deal north of £100 million.

That’s a tall order after spending heavily already. The Reds would need to sell before they buy again.

Darwin Nunez could be one name on the exit list. But even with cash in hand, persuading Newcastle to part ways with their No. 9 won’t be easy.

In truth, Isak to Liverpool looks like a long shot — unless the Swede suddenly fancies a new challenge. For now, this feels more like fantasy football than the real thing.
