Everton may finally be about to act on their long-standing interest in Yuri Alberto this summer.

The Toffees have been tracking Alberto’s progress since way back in 2023, and could finally be poised to materialise that interest this summer, as they look to strengthen David Moyes’ hand ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

The Corinthians frontman was the joint top scorer in Brazil’s Serie A last season, and also won the division’s Player of the Year award at the end of the campaign.

It now looks like he could be ready to depart his homeland this summer, with Everton touted as a potential destination.

Everton to battle Atletico Madrid and Roma for Alberto

Moyes is expected to be well-backed by The Friedkin Group this summer. The Scottish boss will have his eyes fixed on leading Everton back into the top half of the Premier League table, and that could lead him to finally secure a deal to bring Alberto to Merseyside.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees are one of several sides who are chasing the forward, with Roma and Atletico Madrid also in the race, according to AS (19 June).

The Spanish giants are believed to be leading that race at present, having already met with Alberto’s representatives back in April. Those talks are believed to be set to continue after the Club World Cup.

Corinthians are understood to be holding out for £17million for their star man this summer, which will make him a hugely attractive proposition for each fo the prospective candidates.

Everton must go all out for Alberto

Alberto’s goalscoring record makes it clear that Everton should be doing everything they can to bring him to the Premier League this summer.

He has plundered 45 goals and 11 assists from just 92 games since the start of 2024, and those figures currently mean he is performing at an astonishing rate of one goal contribution for every 128 minutes of football.

Season Games Goals Assists

2025 35 13 1

2024 57 31 7

2023 63 15 7

2022 28 11 2

Total 183 70 17

AS state that according to data from Sofascore, Alberto is “the world’s most prolific U23 striker” since January 2024, and as a result, it’s not hard to see why their are European clubs chasing his signature.

Everton have desperately needed a reliable goalscorer in recent seasons, with Richarlison the last man to hit double figures for league goals back in the 2021/22 campaign.

Alberto may be totally unproven in English football, but for a fee as little as £17m, Moyes and Co. would be silly not to pursue a deal.

If the youngster developes as expected, then that £17m could look like a steal later down the line.
