One Wolves player’s head might have turned when the 2025/26 Premier League fixture list was announced.
Wolves face a tough start to the season, as the Old Gold will play Manchester City on the opening day.
Perhaps earlier than expected, Rayan Ait-Nouri will return to Molineux, in what will be his Premier League debut for City.
All eyes will be on the Algerian when he makes the trip to WV1 in opposing colours, but there’s another player to watch ahead of the fixture.

Hwang Hee-chan can write his name into Premier League history
Wolves fans are concerned about the fixture list, as Vitor Pereira’s side face a tough start.
That being said, there’s no reason why the Old Gold can’t test Manchester City, as they certainly have done in the past.
If there’s one player who will be licking his lips at the idea of squaring up to City on the opening day, it’s Hwang Hee-chan.
Hwang left Pep Guardiola red-faced after scoring against City, following the Spaniard simply referring to the forward as ‘the Korean guy’.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
The 29-year-old will be eager to make Guardiola eat his words once again, and this time, there’s an added incentive to do so.
That’s because, if Hwang starts and scores against City on the opening day, he will write his name into Premier League history.
Only two players in Premier League history have scored in three successive starts against Guardiola’s City.
Hwang has scored in his previous two starts against the Cityzens, and if he repeats the feat, he will join Mohamed Salah and Anthony Martial in the record books.
Vitor Pereira likely to deny Hwang the record
Individual records are always great for players to achieve, but for Hwang, this one already seems out of reach.
Firstly, there are doubts about Hwang’s future due to his lack of form over the 2024/25 calendar, which saw Pereira favour other players ahead of the Korean.
The second issue comes in the form of the manager himself, as since Pereira took charge, the 29-year-old has only earned three Premier League starts.
With new signings expected and his teammates already ahead of him in the pecking order, the likelihood of Hwang securing a start against City is very low.
Still, stranger things have happened in football, and with a record on the line, who knows if Hwang will push to make the XI.
