After links emerged yesterday (Wednesday) surrounding potential interest in the midfielder from Roma and Gian Piero Gasperini, Sky Sports has reported that another Serie A side has entered the fray. On the source's Transfer Centre, they reported: "Brighton have received a £25.6m (€30m) offer from Napoli for Matt O’Riley.
"Talks are ongoing regarding the deal and package Brighton would want for the midfielder. Brighton still sees O’Riley as an important part of their project, but will entertain offers if they meet their valuation.
"Multiple Serie A clubs and Premier League sides are also considering making an official approach for the player. Atalanta and Roma, now managed by ex-Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini, are long-term admirers of O’Riley.
"But currently, it is Napoli who are leading the race for the 24-year-old."
