One thing Leeds United fans need to consider this summer is where the transfers fit in the team. And that decision will lie with Daniel Farke.
As much as there will be some excitement and expectations of the new arrivals, how they fit into the squad is more important. And in the Premier League, squad depth is key. Last season, fans were confused when Isaac Schmidt and Largie Ramazani had limited minutes, and only featured prominently late in the season.

Speaking of Lukas Nmecha, many fans were happy with his arrival over the weekend. The club finally have some competition for Joel Piroe, who is not really a fan favourite. Many people suggest that the German will start over Piroe next season.
But per the latest from sources, it could be far from the reality. Graham Smyth has now revealed what Daniel Farke’s plan for the new signing looks like:
“It was all done and dusted by the mid-afternoon, first signing through the door. Quite experienced now, he’s had his fair share of injuries. The two-year deal reflects a lot of how Leeds see this deal, they see him as a squad player,” Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road podcast.
“Yes, he comes with an injury CV as Daniel Farke would say, but he’s a player they think can help, it’s an interesting one because it has ramifications and there are natural questions when you see this transfer. This is what Patrick Bamford was doing last season, so what does it mean?”
Right call from the boss?
It is understandable that Leeds do not see Lukas Nmecha as an outright starter. His injury record has hampered him for most of his career. And his goal record shows that he is the type of striker that brings others into play.
Having him off the bench allows some flexibility when it comes to the game plan. Nmecha’s versatility could also be a reason why he is viewed as an impact player; he can play out wide or even behind the striker. It will be interesting to see what Leeds United will do with him next season.
