“Complete nonsense” – Player criticised as Brentford transfer saga continues

Feyenoord midfielder Antoni Milambo has been criticised as the transfer saga involving Brentford rumbles on.

[FR12 cover comments](https://www.fr12.nl/transfernieuws/milambo-ambieert-transfer-als-club-moet-je-dan-ook-gewoon-meedenken) from journalists Martijn Krabbendam and Freek Jansen after they discussed the 20-year-old on the Rondje Voetbalzomer show on Voetbal International.

Milambo has been closing in on a move to Brentford for the best part of two months after the Bees made their move for him.

It’s been rumbling on since, with it first reported that the deal was close after Milambo had travelled to London to speak to Brentford about a move.

Feyenoord hit back at that and insisted they had no intention of selling, and definitely not on the cheap, before it was then reported Brentford had sent a delegation to Feyenoord to get a deal over the line. It was then followed by a report last week that it appeared to have paid off.

The pending move has caused plenty of debate in the Netherlands, where they’re not convinced that Milambo is ready for the transfer.

That was the subject of the conversation this time around, with the journalists left unimpressed by reports Milambo is reportedly refusing to sign an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2027, because he feels he’s already hit the limit at Feyenoord.

_”Feyenoord absolutely did not want to let him go, but you also have to deal with what a player wants himself,”_ said Krabbendam.

_“If Milambo says: Okay, I want to go and I don’t feel like extending my contract. I have been in the selection for three years now. Champions League played and experienced everything, I feel it is time for the next step… As a club you just have to think along.”_

_”That is of course complete nonsense what he says,”_ added Milambo.

_“How can a player like Milambo say that he has experienced everything at Feyenoord and is ready for the next step? I can imagine Quinten Timber saying that. He has shown much more. What has his impact been on this Feyenoord, it has not been that big? Show it in the Champions League?_

_“He has had such an impact that he is not in the starting line-up for Jong Oranje. Milambo is not that big a player yet. He is a good and talented player, but Milambo can be very happy that he is now playing minutes at Feyenoord.”_
