Liverpool has been given a clear idea of what to anticipate from Alexander Isak, should the club decide to splash the cash on him this summer. The Swedish striker has established himself as one of the Premier League's top forwards during his three-year spell at Newcastle.
Since signing for the Magpies, Isak has netted an impressive 62 goals in 109 matches across all competitions, twice reaching the 20-goal mark in the Premier League. His outstanding performances have naturally attracted attention from Arsenal and current Premier League champions Liverpool, who have been active in the transfer market.
The Reds have already secured the services of Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz for £29.5million and £116m respectively, with the latter set to break the British transfer record once he officially moves to Merseyside. According to Give Me Sport, Anfield chiefs are ready to shatter that record again to secure the services of 25-year-old Isak, who is reportedly valued at a whopping £150m by Newcastle.
Isak has been described as the 'dream' signing for Arne Slot. And they've already been given a comprehensive overview of what they can expect from Isak, both in terms of his talent and personality, by his Newcastle colleagues.
Magpies boss Eddie Howe was reportedly blown away by Alexander Isak's "world-class" abilities from his first training session, as uncovered earlier this year by The Athletic. The striker wowed both Howe and his peers with dribbling and relaxed scoring finesse.
Newcastle wing-back Matt Ritchie expressed sheer surprise at Isak's prowess, saying, "You were thinking straight away, 'This kid's got everything,'" after being left in awe during team exercises.
One of the coaches was notably struck by Isak's "unbelievable" one-touch finishing, which he showcased by netting a goal just 38 minutes into his Anfield debut.
Ritchie lauded Isak further, describing him as "potent" and "rapid", adding: "He's so powerful, so quick. But Alex is like a racehorse. To keep Alex on the pitch, he needs [everything] to be perfect."
Dan Burn added: "He's got everything. In my opinion, Alex is probably the best striker in the world at the minute."
Newcastle did have to find ways to "stimulate" him and encourage him to amplify his game when it matters most.
He has certainly proved his worth, becoming the seventh-fastest player to score 50 league goals (76 matches) this season, with only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah outscoring his impressive tally of 54 goals over the last three top-flight campaigns.
Newcastle have astutely secured Isak on a contract until 2028, positioning themselves to demand a substantial transfer fee and ward off potential suitors. Liverpool are reportedly ready to propose an offer in the region £100m, £16m less than what they're paying for Wirtz, which would fall significantly short of Newcastle's valuation.
Given Newcastle's financial muscle, their return to Champions League football this season and the morale boost from lifting the Carabao Cup, it's unlikely they'll be tempted into selling anytime soon.
