Player pictured arriving at airport to fly and sign for Liverpool

Florian Wirtz has been pictured at Cologne Bonn Airport where he will catch a flight to Liverpool to sign for the Premier League champions.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who provides a video of the Bayer Leverkusen star arriving at the airport before flying to Liverpool.

He reports that Wirtz is with his family and are now heading to England ahead of the first part of his medical with Arne Slot’s team.

That first stage of his medical is expected to be completed later today, if possible, before then being finalised on Friday. He will then, at some point, presumably sign for Liverpool.

The Reds are closing in on the signing of the Leverkusen star after weeks of negotiations with the German side over a deal worth around €150m.

Wirtz has opted to join them after being convinced by the project presented to him earlier this year when he held talks with various suitors, such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Now he’s heading for England to undergo a medical and complete the move, which will be Liverpool and the Premier League’s most expensive transfer ever.
