Reds Review | April

Following a record-breaking campaign for Nottingham Forest, we’re looking back across the season, reliving key moments, memorable matches and stunning strikes from across the 2024/25 campaign.

The first day of April saw Forest welcome Manchester United to the City Ground with the Reds looking to complete a first league double over the Red Devils since 1991/92.

With five minutes on the clock, Anthony Elanga collected a clearance from Ryan Yates, ran 85 metres with the ball at his feet, before placing the ball beyond André Onana to give the Reds an early lead.

Elanga’s stunning solo strike was enough for the three points on Trentside, where despite pressure from the visitors, Nuno Espírito Santo’s charges claimed maximum spoils against United.

Aston Villa were Forest’s next opponents at Villa Park, where first half goals from Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen gave the home side a two-goal advantage at the break.

Jota rose from the substitutes’ bench in the second period as the Reds put some intense pressure on the home side.

The Portuguese attacker pulled a goal back with a clever finish just before the hour mark, with a number of other Reds going close to bringing Forest level.

Murillo struck the crossbar in added time from range, but the home side held on for the three points.

Everton headed to the City Ground seven days later, where Abdoulaye Doucouré’s stoppage time goal proved to be the difference between the sides on the afternoon.

Forest were back on the road against Tottenham Hotspur in our final Premier League fixture of the month where early goals from Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood put the Reds in the driving seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Wood also seeing a goal ruled out by VAR for offside.

Harry Toffolo produced a spectacular clearance off the line in the second period to maintain our two-goal lead in North London, before Richarlison pulled a goal back for the home side late on.

The Reds claimed the three points however to maintain our presence in the Premier League’s top seven.

The final fixture of the month came in the semi-final of the Emirates FA Cup in front of over 35,000 travelling Reds under the Wembley arch for the first time since 1991/92.

Our journey came to an end despite Forest striking the woodwork on three separate occasions in the second period.
