Predicting Team Awards For The Falcons

The Falcons have completely redesigned their franchise with young stars, much needed depth on the defense, and overall, a new hope for this franchise. While there will be some growing pains and some mistakes along the way, the Falcons have built the roster that they want.

Predicting which players will win what team award is no easy task, but looking all around there is one specific player for each category. Five different awards to give out and these are the players that could earn these awards.

Team MVP: Michael Penix Jr.

This one is an absolute stab in the dark, as Penix is about to play his first full season as a starter. With the weapons that the Falcons have, and his arm strength and accuracy, it is very possible that he has a breakout season.

We saw flashes in 2024 during his short stint at starting quarterback, and now that he has experienced that, he can utilize it to have a good year. Penix has all the tools and strengths to help lead this team to a far run in the playoffs.

Offensive Player of the Year: Bijan Robinson

Robinson has been everything that the Falcons wanted out of the eight picks in 2023. The Texas star has already made a Pro Bowl and has 23 total touchdowns in two seasons.

He was the team's best player on offense last season and should be the star once again as he enters his third year as a pro. In two seasons he also has over 3,300 scrimmage yards which is highly impressive for a young talent.

Defensive Player of the Year: Jessie Bates Jr.

Bates has been the leader of the defense since his pro bowl 2023 season. He has been the bright spot of a defense that has struggled dramatically over the last few seasons.

Bates is now 28 and looking to have another pro bowl/all-pro season and with some new faces around him it could be beneficial. Bates has 24 career interceptions, with three of them being returned for a touchdown.

Rookie of the Year: James Pearce Jr.

Pearce was drafted 26th overall, 11 spots behind new teammate Jalon Walker. The reason for choosing Pearce for rookie of the year comes down to expectations for him as he was traded to the Falcons on draft night for a first round pick in 2026.

Both are very talented edge rushers, but Pearce has more to lose and gain in 2025, and that will motivate him to have a breakout season early. He has always been a good pass rusher and looks to help the Falcons get out of a sack slump.

Comeback Player of the Year: Kyle Pitts

The last award will be given to a player who desperately needs to have that stellar breakout year. Since his rookie season, Pitts has struggled drastically to produce for the Falcons.

Pitts has 10 career touchdowns in four seasons, and if he wants to stay with the Falcons, he needs to reach close to that number in just this season alone. He must also stay healthy and play the best football he has ever player, which he is more than capable of.

All of these predictions can change overtime, but as of right now each of these players has all the keys to win those respective team awards.
