2024-25 was an absolute disaster for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Between a tough Eastern Conference and multiple injuries, they were never able to really get off the ground and ended up as the 13th seed.
So, what does that mean for next season?
According to Marc Stein, the team isn’t going to make changes to its big three consisting of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey.
“By simply staying at No. 3, Philadelphia would introduce an $11.1 million salary onto its books for 2025-26. So the Sixers expect to operate near (or maybe even above) the second apron for this upcoming campaign, sources say, as they prepare to give Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey another shot to try to contend for a championship after they managed to appear in just 15 games (7-8) together this season,” Stein said, per NBACentral.

The combination of Embiid, Maxey, and George was supposed to be something to behold and a true threat in the East.
Instead, they hardly played together, mostly due to a serious injury to Embiid, who appeared in just 19 games with an average of 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
Injuries also bothered George, and they even slowed down Maxey, too.
George had just arrived in Philadelphia, but there were still some people calling on the front office to trade him away.
But according to this report, the Sixers will attempt to run it back with this squad.
However, that means the expectations will be even higher in 2025-26, and if the team underperforms again, for whatever reason, there could be major adjustments.
In fact, if the 76ers aren’t thriving by midseason, it’s reasonable to believe that the trade deadline will be very busy for them.
Embiid, Maxey, and George will get another chance to prove what they are capable of – what will they do with it?
